Lorie is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). Lorie found yoga (or perhaps it found her) in 1997, when pregnant with her first child. After years of yoga practice, she became a Registered Yoga Teacher through the Shambhava School of Yoga in 2009. Lorie found that many students in her classes used physical therapy to heal from injuries, and yoga to remain healthy. This inspired her to become a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2016 to expand her ability to help people. As a PTA Lorie has worked with patients who suffer from back pain, neck pain, shoulder, hip and knee injuries, and many other conditions. She brings knowledge from her clinical experience to her yoga instruction. Whether it is finding relief from chronic pain, injury prevention, better balance, or aches and pains, Lorie’s focused approach can help people achieve their wellness goals.
What is Functional Yoga Coaching?
Functional Yoga Coaching sessions combine Physical Therapy techniques with classic Hatha Yoga instruction. These sessions provide a personalized approach to help people achieve their wellness goals. The initial session starts with an evaluation and assessment that reveals imbalances, weaknesses or decreased range of motion. A personalized plan of yoga, breathwork, and exercises is then presented to help address these issues. Most clients feel substantially better (sometimes the issue has resolved completely) after only two or three sessions.
